In the Exodus, when the Jewish people received the instruction to kill a lamb and pass your blood on the doorposts so the angel of death would deliver their firstborn, then we have a representation of what is the true Passover. For us Christians, is the blood of Jesus Christ, our Passover Lamb, which cleanses us from all sin and frees us from eternal death.
Contrary to the trade that takes advantage of that date to profit from the sale of chocolates, averdadeira sweetness is not the easter eggs, but in fact receive the greatest gift which is the liberation from death and slavery of sin through Christ Jesus.
Remember that the celebration of Passover in the Old Testament, it was necessary to eat the lamb with bitter herbs and unleavened bread. The bitter herbs were to remind Jews of the difficulties they had faced during slavery in Egypt, and would also be a memorial of the deliverance that the Lord had given them, and baking symbolized purity and remembered the consciousness of sin that had to avoid and escape to not grow in their lives indifference and slavery. In the New Testament, the elements used were the matzo (unleavened bread) and wine with which Jesus celebrated the Passover (Pesach) with his disciples. The bread represents the body of Christ which was given as a sacrifice for our transgressions. The bread is also the symbol of our unity in Christ. The wine represents the new covenant in Christ's blood which was shed on Calvary's cross, and now to be achieved through love and sacrifice of Jesus, touch the doorposts of our hearts, and brings us the guarantee of victory of life over death, peace over war, love over hate. Therefore, we can ask: "Where, O death, is your victory?" Raised up Jesus Christ! With him resuscitarei. So much more than eggs and chocolate, death and resurrection of Christ is the true Passover celebrated by the people of God.
Sincerely,
Pastor Aloysius.
